Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island is situated in the gulf of Thailand. The drop-shaped island is 48 km in length, and from 3 to 28 km breadth wise. all in all it has 1320km2 and about 70000 inhabitants are living on it. Compared to other islands, Phu Quoc has a very good infrastructure, like for example: an airport, several harbors, wide roads, hospital, post-office, police-station and a beautiful market.
River cruising, visiting fish-sauce factories and pepper plantations, jungle-trekking to the waterfall, boat trips to An Thoi islands with snorkeling and fishing, enjoying the countless lonely beaches, marveling the local products at the market, try to find the whale museum. Since March 2002 there is also a diving-base on Phu Quoc. It is located 1 km down south of Duong Dong.
How to get there:
By Air: Vietnam Airlines ATR72 aircraft from Ho Cho Minh City (3flights/day, 50 minutes) and from Rach Gia (daily, 25minutes) to Phu Quoc and back.
By Sea: Daily express boats between Rach gia and An Thoi (2 and half hours, departing from Rach gia at 8: 30am and from An Thoi at 2: 00pm); and between Hon Chong (Ha Tien) and An Thoi (1hour, departing from Hon Chong at 3: 00pm and from An Thoi at 9: 00pm). TRAMECO: Depart from Rach Gia at 1: 30 pm and leaves Phu Quoc for Rach Gia at 8: 30 am everyday.
SUPERDONG: Depart from Rach Gia at 8: 00 am and leaves Phu Quoc for Rach Gia at 1: 00pm everyday.
